My Story

I love being a teacher!

My first degree is in a field called Piano Pedagogy. I have been a professional piano instructor for 30 years. Interestingly, I have had many dyslexic students walk through my door to take piano lessons. The mothers would say to me, “My child is dyslexic. I just thought you should know.”

Therefore, in order to be the best piano teacher I could be to these dyslexic students, I began to read and study about dyslexia. I researched how I needed to teach piano to these students so they would be able to learn and reach their full musical potential.

Perhaps you can guess what happened as I did this research? I grew more and more interested in the field of dyslexia.

I love the English language, I love to read, and I love to teach. So I determined that I would look into becoming a dyslexia tutor. As you hopefully read on my credentials page, this journey has now led me to complete two advanced Orton-Gillingham trainings and the completion of my Associate Certification as a dyslexia tutor.

I now have the incredible privilege of working with dyslexic students as their private tutor. Helping a dyslexic student learn to read, spell, and write the way their wonderful brains work has to be one of the most rewarding efforts I have ever experienced.
